Description

THORNAGE - TG 03 NW 1/112 Lofted Cartshed at Breck Farm, c80m north-west of Farmhouse GV II

Cartshed, C18. Flint with brick dressings; brick nogged timber framing to first floor front. Pantiles. 1 1/2 storeys. 7 bays, knee braces to posts, chamfered principal joists to loft. Thin diagonal timber braces to 5 left hand bays. Loft: roof of 2 arched collars and purlins. Central longitudinal aisle between compartments part-walled with wooden boards. Posts to aisle include one pair of outward curving posts rising from loft floor through collar to principal rafters. Small square hole in each bay of loft floor. Right hand gable rebuilt internally. Window to left hand gable. Forms a group with Breck Farm House and Barn.
