Description
The lofted cartshed at Breck Farm, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 80 meters northwest of the farmhouse. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features brick nogged timber framing on the front of the first floor. The building is one and a half storeys high and consists of seven bays, with knee braces supporting the posts and chamfered principal joists in the loft. The five left-hand bays have thin diagonal timber braces. The loft has a roof supported by two arched collars and purlins, with a central longitudinal aisle that is partially walled with wooden boards. The posts in the aisle include a pair of outward curving posts that extend from the loft floor through the collar to the principal rafters. Each bay of the loft floor has a small square hole. The right-hand gable has been rebuilt internally, and there is a window in the left-hand gable. This cartshed forms a group with Breck Farmhouse and the barn.
