Description
A group of three estate cottages dated 1871, located in Lethingsett with Glandford. They are constructed of flint with brick dressings, and have black glazed pantile roofing. The cottages comprise four bays, with a set-back bay at each end. They feature gable parapets, and brick axial stacks are located between bays two and three, and bays three and four. These stacks have oversailing caps and thin crosses in flint flushwork on each face. A platband of alternating flints and gault brick sits between red brick courses, topped by a cornice of moulded and dogtooth gault brick. Vertical brick columns are positioned between bays two and three, and bays four and five. Hood moulds and chamfered red brick surrounds frame the doors and windows. The windows are casement windows with cast iron glazing bars, with gothic heads; the ground floor has three-light windows in bays one and four, and two-light windows in bays two and three, while the first floor has two-light windows in all bays. A central gabled flint porch with a slate roof features a four-centred chamfered brick arch and a hood mould. A flushwork gable displays the date "1871". Above the porch, a terracotta crest depicting an armed fist grasping an eagle and a lion rampant fretty, with the motto "Fear One," is set within a square surround of chamfered brick and a hood mould. The central door and doors to the end bays are boarded. The gable ends are finished in a flint and brick mosaic.
