Description

The stables and coach house at Letheringsett Hall, built around 1843 for William Cozens-Hardy, are constructed of gault brick and dark knapped flint, featuring a slate roof at the front and pantiles at the rear. The building consists of two single-storey, five-bay ranges that form an L-shape, attached at the south to the main house.

The north range includes five semi-circular headed arches supported by pilaster piers of gault brick. The central arch serves as the stable doors, with the Cozens-Hardy family arms displayed above. There is a central wooden lantern with doveholes, and the arches of bays one and two, as well as three and four, are infilled with knapped flint panels that have semi-circular headed windows with glazing bars and gault brick surrounds.

The west range, which serves as the coach house and stables, mirrors the first and fifth bays of the north range, although the first bay has been modified to include a garage door. Large doors provide access to the coach houses in bays two and four, while the central bay features a tall semi-circular arch filled with dark knapped flint. Above this, there is a central lantern on the roof. To the left, there is a small curved range with a gault brick parapet, which has narrow gault brick arches infilled with knapped flint panels. The stables retain their original fittings and are still in use.
