Description
A group of three estate cottages, dated 1870, located on Riverside Road in Lethingsett with Glandford. The cottages are constructed of flint with brick dressings and have black glazed pantile roofs. They consist of four bays, with a slightly set-back bay at each end. Gable parapets define the roofline, and axial brick stacks are situated between bays two and three, and bays three and four. These stacks feature oversailing caps and a thin cross motif in flint flushwork on each face. A platband of gault brick incorporates dogtooth detailing, topped by a cornice of dogtooth and moulded gault brick. Vertical brick columns mark the divisions between bays two and three, and bays four and five, with hood moulds above. Window and door surrounds are chamfered and made of red brick. Casement windows feature cast iron glazing bars; those on the ground floor of bays one and four have gothic heads of three lights, and bays two and three have two-light gothic heads. First-floor windows are similarly styled. A central doorway is sheltered by a gabled flint porch with a slate roof, featuring a four-centred chamfered brick arch with a hood mould. A flushwork gable displays the date "1870" in stone. Above the porch, a terracotta depiction of the Cozens-Hardy double crest (an armed fist grasping an eagle and a lion rampant fretty, with the motto "Fear One") is set within a chamfered brick surround and a hood mould. The central door has a glazed lancet panel, while the door to the left-end bay is boarded and the door to the right-end bay is panelled. The gable ends are finished in pebble flint.
