Description
Banyer Hall is a house dating from the mid-17th century, which was restored in 1985. It is constructed of brick with plain tiled roofs and follows an "H" shaped plan. The east facade has three bays between projecting gabled cross wings. A central 20th-century door is flanked by one window to the right and left, all set beneath segmental skewback arches. There is a single 20th-century window above the door. Two symmetrically placed 20th-century dormers with flat tops and 20th-century windows are visible. The gabled roof has a central square ridge stack with four square flues, the plinth of which has been repointed. The north cross wing features flat brick string courses at the first floor and eaves level, which extend into the returns. It has one 20th-century window on each floor. The south front has a 20th-century door positioned left of centre, and three 20th-century casements set beneath gauged skewback arches. Four flat-topped dormers with 20th-century details are present, three of which descend through the eaves. A dentil eaves cornice runs along the top of the south facade. This wing is topped with a gabled roof with internal gable end stacks. An outshut to the rear of the south wing has 20th-century windows and the rear of the main range also has 20th-century fenestration.
The interior contains ovolo moulded spine beams with run-out stops and two inglenook fireplaces. The south range was originally a service wing and retains two arched timber doorways within a timber studded wall. The roof was largely replaced in 1985.
