Description

The Western Gate Pier and Forecourt Wall to Number 8, known as Hagbeach House, dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed from brick and limestone. The gate pier has a square section made of ashlar and sits on a moulded plinth. It features a circular-headed niche that faces the road, which contains a carved coat of arms set in a fielded panel. Above this, there is a moulded cornice topped with a ball finial on a stepped base. A brick wall with brick coping extends north towards the house, where it ramps into the gable walls.
