Description
Burnham Overy Staithe Windmill is a tower windmill built in 1816. It is constructed of black tarred brick with a weatherboarded cap, and it has six storeys. The windmill is circular in plan, featuring a door on the west face at ground level, a first-floor gallery with a railing, and two French doors that have replaced the original hoist doors. The datestone on the building reads "ES 1816," and there are four 2-light casements. The windmill has an onion-shaped cap and a cap wheel, with sails based on Cubitt's patent design from 1807, which are temporarily removed at the time of the survey. The interior has been converted for domestic use, and no machinery remains. A 20th-century single-storey addition to the east is not considered of special interest.
