Description
The Garth is a house built around 1830, constructed from gault brick with a slate roof and red brick returns. It is two stories high and has three main bays with single bay parallel wings. The central block features two ground floor sash windows with glazing bars set in recessed frames, topped with semi-circular rubbed brick arched heads. On the first floor, there are three sash windows with glazing bars under flat rubbed brick arched heads. The entrance includes a central six-panel door with a simple arched fanlight above. The building has coped end parapets and two end stacks, along with end pilaster strips. The wings each contain a single sash window with glazing bars under flat rubbed brick arches, as well as end pilaster strips, parapets, and flat roofs. This house was originally a Coastguard Officer's residence.
