Description
The Mill House is a Grade II listed building located in Burnham Overy Staithe, dating from the early 19th century. The house features a garden front made of gault brick and a rear constructed of red brick, topped with a smut pantiled roof.
The garden front presents a symmetrical classical design with three bays, featuring two ground floor and three first floor sash windows with glazing bars, along with a central door set beneath flat rubbed brick arches. The door is a four-panel design, with the lower two panels being moulded and the upper two glazed, complemented by a rectangular fan-light with glazing bars and panelled reveals. The central bay and end strip pilasters project slightly forward, and there is a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The hipped roof is fitted with two gault brick stacks that are recessed behind the ridge.
To the north, there is a two-storey wing that includes a six-arched cast-iron verandah on the west side, supported by open trellis uprights, spandrels, and a trellis parapet. The ground floor openings are adorned with three fluted architrave surrounds. The central opening features a single-leaf door with lower panels and upper glazed panels, while to the north are two-leaf French doors, and to the south are two-leaf French doors with a single glazing bar pattern. The first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, and there are two ridge stacks. The wing at the north-west has a returned hip gable.
