Description
Swallow House is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1780. It is a two-storey house with a basement, constructed of neat brick on a stone plinth. The house features a delicate wooden cornice with dentils that returns along the sides and up the gables. The slate roof has end stacks. The central block includes two tripartite windows with segmental stucco fan tympana above the ground floor windows. To the right is a plain contemporary side wing with a parapet and one window, while to the left is a larger modern side wing with two windows. All windows are fitted with glazing bar sashes. The central entrance features a six-panel door set in an arched recess, topped by a radiating fanlight and framed by a good Doric surround with a moulded open pediment. At the rear, there is a large bay, and to the east, there is a quadrant wall.
