Description
162A Castle Street is an early to mid-19th century short terrace made of Bath stone, which has since been rendered. The building stands three stories tall with a basement and features eight bays, with the second and seventh bays having gabled breaks. The ground floor is channelled and has a moulded string course above it. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, with marginal glazing in the breaks. On the ground floor, there are four windows and two doors, with the central windows being French casements that open onto a contemporary cast-iron verandah adorned with honeysuckle ornament, which forms a balcony over the basement. The basement also has attractive railings with a honeysuckle pattern. Small balconies are present at the French windows on the ground floor of the breaks, featuring similar handrails. The first-floor windows in the gables are topped with bracketed cornices, while the second-floor windows in the breaks have pediments above them.
