Description

This is a terrace of four houses located at 37-43 Lynn Road, dated at the rear to 1838. The houses are constructed from squared, coursed carstone blocks and feature slate roofs. They are two storeys high with two bays each.

No. 37, which houses N. Kettle Limited, Chemist, has a shop front with a panelled architrave surround. The window is divided by a central thin pier that supports two unmoulded semi-circular arches. There is an altered fascia and a 20th-century door inserted at the north. The first floor has two sash windows with margin-lights and glazing bars.

No. 39 to the south has a similar shop front, retaining its fascia and moulded cornice, along with a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars above an inserted 20th-century door. It also features two first floor sash windows with margin lights and glazing bars.

No. 41 has an original six-panel raised and fielded door, with four upper panels glazed and a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. It has an inserted late 20th-century shop window of two bows, with a brick and carstone surround and a fascia from around 1900 above. There is a door to the south with a fanlight. Notably, No. 41 has a 20th-century pantiled roof. Nos. 37-41 have whitewashed rendered plinths and unmoulded surrounds to the doors and first floor plat bands, while the first floor windows are rusticated in the same materials.

No. 43 at the southern end features a three-bay late 19th-century shop front with an architrave surround, brackets, and a fascia, along with a central two-leaf door. The first floor has two sash windows with margin lights and glazing bars, set in whitewashed rendered rusticated surrounds. The terrace has a whitewashed rendered moulded eaves cornice and three party wall stacks. The group is included for its collective value.
