Description

SANDRINGHAM WOLFERTON STATION TF 62 NE (upside, SE side) 2/79 The Clock House GV II Former public waiting rooms to upside c1898. Small carstone with brick dressings to lower walls below window level, ½ timbering with curved braces to upper walls, plain tiles. Single storey in four stepped sections of 3, 2, 3 and 2 bays. Forecourt facade to south-east: lowest section to left of 3 bays, double leaved doors part glazed to left, 2 cross windows to right, clock turret with lead cupola and wind vane over 1st bay, small triangular roof dormer gable over 3rd bay, left return with high 3-light leaded window; higher second section of 2 bays, cross window to left, doorway to right, central axial stack in brick dressed carstone with stone cornice to cap; highest 3 bay section to right breaking forward with half timbering to left gable end, central bay under a cross gable, doorway now with fixed glazing, canopy, tall leaded cross windows to flanking bays; cross stacks to flanking bays as to central section. Lower 2 bays to right with two narrow windows. Platform facade with canopy having fretwork verge supported by octagonal posts, glazed roof lights. Forms a group with Downside q.v. 2/74, The Original q.v. 2/87.
