Description
The piers, gates, and railings at The Clock House were built around 1898 and are made of brick with carstone and limestone, along with wrought iron elements. The structure features a pair of tall brick piers, each measuring 58 centimeters square, decorated with carstone and topped with stone caps. Each cap is surmounted by four elaborate wrought iron scrolls and twisted bars, although the original lanterns have been lost.
The gates are approximately 3.7 meters wide and feature scroll work that matches the design of the gate to the Horse Dock. To the right of the gate pier, there is a low brick wall capped with stone, which leads to the lower left gate pier of The Original. This wall includes seven brick piers and seven panels of wrought iron railings, similar to those attached to the gatepiers of The Original. A similar low wall is attached to the left gate pier, featuring five brick piers and five wrought iron railing panels. Additionally, one pier and one panel are attached to the north of the fourth pier.
These features form a group with The Clock House, The Original, and the piers, gates, and railings associated with The Original.
