Description
The piers, walls, gates, and railings in front of The Lodge date from around 1875. They are made of polychrome brick with stone bands and caps, featuring iron gates and railings. The structure includes a pair of tall square-plan gate piers with chamfered corners, stone plinths, chamfered bands, and enriched flared caps, one of which retains a gas lantern. The iron gates have close-set bars, cross-braced dogbars, and alternating flame and spike finials. There are low linking walls with chamfered bands and coping, along with similar railings. The tall quadrant walls have segmental coping and piers with chamfered corners and pyramidal caps at the junction and ends. This structure is included for its group value, while the walls beyond the end piers are not considered of special interest.
