Description

The garden wall, gates, and two statues located south-west of Biddick Hall date from the mid to late 18th century, with the statues likely from the 17th century. The structure features carved stone statues, a hand-made brick wall, and wrought-iron gates.

The tall wall, approximately 65 meters long, has regularly spaced flat buttresses and a short return section at the east end. It is primarily built in English garden wall bond and has been partly rebuilt at the eastern end. The wall is topped with moulded stone coping and has a ball finial at the western end.

There is a round-arched doorway located east of the center, which includes a round-headed gate with closely set bars and delicate scrollwork around the margins and center. Attached to the western end of the wall is a similar square-headed gate with side panels. The return section features a round-arched doorway flanked by two statues: one of a female figure and the other depicting a man in armor slaying the legendary Lambton worm.

This structure is included for its group value.
