Description
Penshaw House is a house that has been converted into a social services assessment centre and two dwellings. It was built around 1830 and features ashlar stonework with a low-pitched roof made of Welsh slate, which has flat stone gable coping. The building is two storeys high and has three windows on the west elevation. A central half-glazed door is set between narrow windows within a flat Tuscan doorcase. The ground floor has tripartite sash windows, while the first floor has single sash windows, all of which include glazing bars. The house also has a cill band, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course, along with two brick chimneys at either end. Inside, the property showcases architraves around five-panelled doors, window shutters, and some moulded cornices and patterned friezes. The staircase features decorated tread ends.
