Wolferton Station Piers, Gates And Railings To The Horse Dock Between The Signal Box And Station House

Wolferton Station's piers, gates, and railings to the Horse Dock were built around 1898. They are located on the opposite side of the road from Wolferton Station. The structure features a pair of brick piers that are 80 centimeters square, constructed in English bond, with stone caps that have an egg and dart cornice, topped with large stone balls. There is a large single gate approximately 3.7 meters wide made of wrought iron, which includes decorative scroll work above the top rail and in the panels between the bars. To the right, there is a low brick wall in English bond with a stone cap, topped with railings that have scroll work, divided into 10 sections by double twisted bars. Additionally, there are five similar panels that extend to the right along the former railway line. The Horse Dock was designed to provide separate access to the railway for the transport and collection of horses. This structure is included for its group value.
