Description
This cattle shelter, located approximately 15 meters north of Tower Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed from carstone and brick, with a hipped roof covered in pantiles sloping to the west. The shelter is open to the north and supported by six tapering posts, four of which are made of cast iron and two of wood. The west wall features galleted uncoursed carstone, while the south face of the rear wall has been rebuilt in brick. Inside, the rear wall is made of irregular brick with some limestone set on a carstone base, and the roof features a king post design. An attached range to the east is made of carstone with brick dressings and has a floor of stone setts. Additionally, there is a ramped carstone wall leading to the yard at the northwest angle. This structure is included for its group value with the nearby farmhouse.
