Description
This cattle shelter, located east of Langstone Farmhouse and adjoining a linhay, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features granite rubble walls with roughly dressed granite posts and a corrugated iron roof with gable ends. The building has a long rectangular plan with a stone outside wall and was originally open at the front, facing the farmyard. The roof is supported by granite piers, and most of the bays have since been filled in with granite rubble. The 19th-century lapped trusses appear to be nailed, and there are cut-off stubs of massive tie beams resting on the posts. This structure forms a group with Langstone Farmhouse and its associated farm buildings.
