Description
The stable court gate piers and wall, located 25 metres to the west and the main entrance gate piers and gates 50 metres to the south of Snettisham Old Hall, date from the 18th century. The structure features a wall with two gates. At the northern end on Lynn Road, there is a curved screen wall that connects to the coach-house. This wall is made of coursed squared and galleted carstone with a stone coping. It has a brick-dressed arched gate with a four-panel door and temporary 20th-century gates.
To the south, there is a brick gate pier and a curved screen wall that mirrors the one to the north. The wall to the south is constructed of carstone with a stone coping, which has been heightened to a gable form where it was once connected to the west gable of the south service wing of the Old Hall. A brick pier indicates a change in direction parallel to Old Church Street and the south entrance front of the Old Hall.
There are two squared, rusticated carstone piers with moulded stone plinths and coping, along with taller outer brick piers that have stone bases and coping, featuring roundels. The structure includes two-leaf carriage gates made of wrought iron, which have closely set dog rails on the lower section and speared cresting. Additionally, there is a brick range that runs parallel to the south front of the Old Hall, which has a blocked arched pedestrian wicket entrance aligned with the former central entrance porch of the Old Hall. A further brick pier and the final section of the carstone wall can be found to the east.
