Description
This is a 17th-century threshing barn, which was altered in the 18th century, located about 120 meters northeast of Caldecott Farmhouse. The barn is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with a thatched roof that is now covered with corrugated iron. It features four bays and has opposing doors in the second bay. The west end has a 19th-century brick wall, while the east end is weatherboarded and includes a three-light window. The main cart entrance is on the south side and is full height, while the north entrance is three-quarter height. Inside, the barn has close studding, tie beams supported by jowled principal posts, with curved arch braces at the west end and knuckle braces at the east end. There are two tiers of purlins trenched over the principals, diagonal windbracing, collars at mid-span on the principal rafters, and added struts between the upper purlins. Caldecott Farmhouse itself is not listed.
