Description
Rippon Hall Farmhouse Barn is a barn dating from the 16th century, which incorporates materials from the 16th century manor. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantiled roof. The barn consists of three bays, with an additional three-bay extension to the east and a single-bay lean-to on the north side. The west section of the barn is made of early brickwork set on a flint plinth, and it includes ventilation slots and 18th century raking buttresses on the south side. There are slots at three levels on the gable walls and put log holes on the interior walls. The 19th century roof is built off the original tie beams, which are supported by wall posts with braces. The eastern extension is primarily from the 18th century but incorporates 16th century brickwork in its gable wall, which has blocked ventilation slots. The south side features 17th century stepped buttresses, moulded brick kneelers at the gables, and deep brick dentil eaves. There is an attached range of farm buildings to the north, but these are not of special interest.
