Description
The coach house, located at the north west corner of the courtyard to Salhouse Hall, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a monopitch pantiled roof, with some detailing in gault brick. The south wall has a large segmental-headed central door opening, flanked by two lower side doors. Above the central doors is a gault brick panel displaying the initials REW. There are loops over the side doors, which are surrounded by gault brick. The building is topped with a castellated parapet that includes a corbel table.
At the south west corner, there is a square brick dovecote supported by massive brick corbels, featuring a plain tiled roof with scalloped bargeboards and a wallplate held up by large console brackets. A corbelled brick finial sits at the gable apex. The flank walls have stepped parapets, and there is a tall chimney at the north east corner. This coach house is included for its group value with Salhouse Hall.
