Description

TG 21 NW SPIXWORTH CHURCH LANE (south side) 2/60 Granary to west of Barn.

Former granary to Spixworth Hall. Dated 1730 on sundial panel on south wall. Red brick with vertical patterning in dark headers; steeply-pitched pantile roof. Two storeys. Symmetrical south facade of five bays, centre bay advanced under a shaped gable. Gable contains clock dial in circular stone surround above square stone sundial. Square window openings with rubbed brick arches, ground floor openings altered. Iron ventilation grilles in first floor openings. Central doorway with semi-circular head; rusticated gault brick dressings. Inside porch, three doorways with four-centred heads and spandrels. Doorway (to winding stair) with rectangular fanlight. Platband at first floor level. Shaped east and west gables, west gable with weather vane. Blocked attic window opening and platband on west gable. Central octagonal bell-cote with ogee-headed dome and finial. Later wing to north with hipped roof; Iunettes and semi-circular headed openings. ........ .. .
