Description
The Old Rectory is a late 18th century rectory located on Buxton Road in Spixworth. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with the main facade facing west. This facade consists of three bays, with the center bay slightly projecting and topped with a pediment that includes a circular attic window in the tympanum. The eaves and pediment are adorned with a wooden modillion cornice. The windows are sash style, featuring flat gauged arches and glazing bars, with louvred shutters on the outer bays. The central doorway is framed by an architrave and has a pedimented and dentilled doorcase, supported by console brackets. It contains a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above. There are two chimney stacks located behind the ridge line, and a brick dentil eaves course is present on the side and rear walls. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey service wing with a concrete-tiled roof. A datestone from 1705 has been re-set into the north wall.
