Description

Nos. 6 and 8 Bridge Street in Thetford is a Grade II listed building that includes two shops and seven flats. It dates from the early 19th century and was converted into flats in the late 20th century. The structure is made of flint, brick, and clunch, with a façade of gault brick. The roof is covered with slate on the side, red pantiles at the rear, and black-glazed pantiles at the front.

The building stands three storeys tall and features six bays. To the left of a square carriage archway leading to Bridgate Court, there are two late 20th-century shop fronts. The first floor has six sash windows with 6/6 glazing bars, each topped by gauged skewback arches. The second floor contains five 3/6 sash windows, with the center window being blind, also featuring gauged skewback arches. The hipped roof has stacks located at the south end and right of center. The north gable has 20th-century weatherboarding that has replaced the original render.

At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with a dentil eaves cornice and late 20th-century top-hung casements. The rear of the main elevation is constructed of random flint and also has a dentil eaves cornice, with mixed fenestration throughout.
