Description
Nos. 5 and 5A on White Hart Street in Thetford is a shop and flat that dates back to the 16th century but was almost entirely rebuilt in the early 19th century, with an additional storey added. The building was altered in the late 20th century. It features plastered and colourwashed gault brick with a pantile roof.
On the left side of the facade, there is a square-headed archway that leads to a passage at the rear, which was extensively rebuilt in the late 20th century. To the right, there is a late 20th-century shop front with a central glazed door. The first floor has two sash windows in exposed boxes with segmental heads, featuring 6/6 glazing bars. The second floor has two 3/3 sash windows separated by an inserted 6/6 sash. The building has a gabled roof with an internal gable-end stack on the north side. The rear is lit by late 20th-century casement windows.
Inside, the ground floor contains one wave-moulded bridging beam, while the upper floors have not been inspected.
