Description

No. 44 on Codicote Road is a house that was originally a pair of cottages from the 17th century. It has been encased in red brick during the 19th century and modern times. The roof is gable-ended and covered with plain tiles, featuring a notable 17th-century chimney stack near the road end, which has two square shafts and an ovolo cornice. The house has one storey and attics. The southeast elevation displays two segmental-headed three-light casements with glazing bars, along with three small-pane gabled attic casements. Inside, there is a partly rebuilt internal timber frame and an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
