Description
The Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge located on Redhall Lane in Chandler's Cross. It is constructed of yellow stock brick with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is two stories tall and has three bays. At the center, there is a projecting porch that contains an original ribbed door with a fanlight, set within a later infill of a Tudor arched opening with a stone archivolt. Above the porch, there is an armorial crest in a rendered gabled parapet, and a cornice runs along the top.
The porch has two-light casements on its returns, while the flanking ground floor windows are dual 8-pane sashes with chamfered reveals, drip moulds, and stone sills. The first floor windows are similar but consist of 6 panes. The eaves are boxed, and there are stacks at the left end and rear right of the building. The gable ends feature ground floor tripartite sashes with chamfered Tudor arched heads and drip moulds. The first floor has coved Gothic niches that are cement rendered, with shafts and cusps on the intrados and lierne vault ribs. The gable ends also display cusped bargeboards with arabesque decoration on the blocked ends, along with heavy pendant bosses featuring quatrefoil decoration. There are some inserted 20th-century casements. At the rear, there is a central projecting porch with a first floor window. The interior has not been inspected.
