Description
Turnershall Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating back to the late medieval period. It features two-storey cross wings at each end and had a stack and floor inserted in the mid 17th century. The exterior was refaced in the mid 19th century using flint and red brick, while the eastern cross gable was retained. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high with three windows: one early 19th century sash and the others late 19th century casements. A 20th century gabled porch with a roundel above has been added. There is a late 17th century external stack on the eastern end. Inside, the wide hall showcases a heavy exposed truss with a double hollow chamfer, and there is a deep 17th century cellar on the western side of the hall. The cross wings, which appear to be from the 16th century, feature exposed clasped purlin roofs with curved wind braces.
