Description

Holly Bush Cottage is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, originally timber-framed. Later, the infill was replaced with brick and the exterior was painted white. A gabled extension was added in the late 19th or early 20th century to the far end, away from the road. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The house is two storeys high with attics. The main range has five windows, all 20th-century leaded casements. A bay closest to the road is plastered and has lower windows, likely representing an early cross wing which was refronted at a later date. A prominent, good-quality 17th-century red brick chimney stack rises from the centre of the ridge, featuring four joined square shafts. A timber-framed rear extension, built near the road, has a tile-hung attic. Adjacent to this is the 19th-century gabled extension, characterized by segmental-headed windows.
