Description

The Laurels is a house and office located on the east side of The Hill in Wheathampstead. It dates from the later 17th century or early 18th century and features a timber frame. The building has an early 19th-century front and a single-window south extension. It has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys tall. The original range includes three casements, each with three lights; two of these are on the ground floor and have moulded frames. There is a door towards the right with flush panels and heavy shaped brackets, topped with a shallow pediment hood. A 18th-century ridge stack is positioned towards the left. Inside, the building showcases exposed framing and stop-chamfered beams of narrow scantling.
