Description
Latimore is a house located on High Street in Wheathampstead. It dates from the 16th century and earlier, featuring a timber frame. The building was refronted in the late 18th century with a parapeted red brick facade. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with a large 17th-century ridge chimney stack that has five joined square shafts. The south gable end is tile-hung, and there is a cross wing on the rear north side.
The front of the house has three identical triple casements with Gothic top panes and flat gauged brick lintels. The entrance is designed in a lobby plan, featuring an 18th-century door with two trefoiled and fielded panels, set within a doorcase that has Tuscan pilasters and a cornice. There is a truncated south extension, and inside, there are remains of a late medieval hall.
