Description

The Cottage is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century. It features a timber frame with roughcast and a steeply pitched old red tile roof, which has a diagonal pattern of lighter tiles. The house is 1 and a half storeys tall and faces south onto the Green. It has two gabled dormers at the eaves and a smaller dormer inserted in the middle. There is a central porch with a plank door that has fancy hinges, and on each side of the porch, there is a two-light small-panes casement window. At the rear, there is a catslide outshut and a short gabled wing on the northwest side. The rear wall has a large chimney on the eastern part, and the roof is supported by side-purlins. Additionally, there is a semi-circular bay window on the eastern gable.
