Description
View Cottage and Avenue Cottage is a house that has been divided into two homes. It dates from the 17th century, with some brick casing added in the 18th century, and it was altered and divided in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame with roughcast and panelled pargetting on the first floor at the front. The ground floor of Avenue Cottage has red brick in Flemish bond, and there is also red brick on the east gable end, which returns slightly along the front. The steep roof is covered with red tiles.
This two-storey building has a three-cells plan and is set back from the road, facing north. The north front has three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all of which are flush box sash windows with three panes each. There are two doors in the middle: the left door is a four-panel, half-glazed door with a flat hood supported by shaped brackets, while the right door is a plank door. A very large rear wall chimney projects, featuring crow-step decoration on the middle bay, with an additional projecting chimney on the east gable.
