Description

This is an early 17th-century house, altered in the 19th century. The first floor has an exposed timber frame with plaster panels, while the ground floor is cased in red brick laid in a Flemish bond, featuring darker red dressings and a dentilled course below a mid-height rail of timber framing. The roof is steeply pitched with old red tiles. The house is two storeys high and has two principal rooms, with a narrow west bay overlapping a large former external gable chimney. An external east gable chimney has been added; it has tumbled offsets and two flues. The south front has two windows on the first floor, plus a small window under the eaves in the chimney bay. The ground floor has two main windows corresponding to those on the first floor, and a window and a four-panel door between them. The first-floor framing shows main posts with long straight tension braces, and a 2:6:6 panel arrangement. The windows are 2-light flush casements with small panes. The roof is a clasped-purlin design. The gable end has long straight tension braces and a collar. A moulded mullioned three-light window is located on the first floor at the rear of the west bay.
