Description
The cottages at 8-32 Meadow Way, designed by C.M. Crickmer in 1924-5, are part of a well-executed Garden City development. The design groups detached and semi-detached cottages with terraces, creating green spaces on either side of Meadow Way. These cottages were originally intended for single businesswomen and shared communal dining facilities located in a central building to the north. The cottages are one and a half to two storeys high. Nos 12 to 28 (even) are symmetrically arranged with three projecting central bays. They have hipped tiled roofs with gabled dormers and red brick stacks. The walls are roughcast and the windows are casements with glazing bars.
