Description
No. 43 Lytton Avenue is a house built in 1909 by B Parker and R Unwin. It features roughcast over brick with a chequer brick plinth and a gabled plain tile roof. The house has brick stacks, including a lateral stack to the right, a rear end stack with a bread oven projection, and a corner stack to the rear left. It is designed in an L-plan and consists of one storey and an attic, with a 2-bay range and a roof that sweeps over a lean-to porch set to the left of the projecting gable end. The entrance has a plank door with broad strap hinges, a Norfolk latch, and a knocker. The windows, which can have up to 5 lights, are fitted with leaded lights and wrought-iron fittings, set within smooth-plastered architraves and mullions. There is a gabled dormer with a 2-light window on the right side wall and full-width windows flanking the stack at the rear gable. Inside, the house features a stick-baluster staircase and plank doors with broad strap hinges.
