Description
34 and 36 South View are a pair of semi-detached houses built in 1912 by C M Crickmer. They are designed based on two of Crickmer's first prize winning cottages from the 1911 Gidea Park Competition. The houses feature a symmetrical facade with two storeys, highlighted by projecting staircase towers that create junctions between the two-storey central section and the one-storey outer bays. The roofs are tiled, and there are brick ridge stacks with moulded caps that extend down the gable walls as strips. The walls are roughcast, with the center having a brick ground floor. The windows are mullioned casement types with leaded lights, and the staircase windows have arched heads, while the first-floor windows have retaining shutters. The doorways are fitted with panelled doors and topped with moulded hoods.
