Description

Numbers 9 and 11, known as Mimram Cottage, are a terrace of five estate houses that have been converted into two houses. They were built in the early to mid-18th century, likely for the servants of the Gilbert family from St Paul's Walden Bury, and are located at the foot of the old south drive, formerly called Bury Hill. The original part of the building is constructed of brick, which has been painted at the front, and features a steep old red tile roof that extends over a rear outshut. A mid-19th century extension to the north has a slate roof with a flatter pitch. The terrace is two stories high and faces east, with four windows on the first floor alternating with blind recesses. There are four ground floor windows below the upper ones, along with three doorways beneath the blind panels; the right-hand doorway is wider, originally intended for two doors. The building has an external chimney on the south gable, an internal chimney in the middle, and an internal gable chimney at the north end. The 19th and 20th-century extensions are not considered of special interest.
