Description

The Old School House is a building that was originally a school and master's house, constructed in 1847 as a National School. It was later extended, closed in 1934, and converted into a private house. The structure features uncoursed flint pebbles with buff brick dressings and steep slate roofs that have bargeboards and pendants. It is a 1½-storey building set back from the Green, facing north, with a 2-storey east crosswing that slightly projects to the front. The entrance is located near the east end of the front, and there is a gabled dormer at the eaves above the door. Inside, there is a large internal chimney with two diagonal brick shafts at the junction of the wings, another chimney a little further west, and a front wallhead chimney on the west part. The windows are three-light casements with segmental arches. The building is included for its group value.
