Description
This is a barn located on the road in front of Newnham Hall, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with vitrified headers and features a pitched tiled roof. The barn has scattered openings, some of which have rubbed brick segmental arched heads. There are three 20th-century openings on the long elevation facing the house, with two on the right and one on the left. A gabled first-floor entrance porch with cement rendering is present on this elevation. The long elevations also have a dentillated brick eaves cornice and plat bands at the same level on the gable walls. The gables are parapetted and adorned with decorative headers. An entrance gate and piers to the Hall are attached to the eastern gable wall. The barn is a prominent feature on Ashwell Road.
