Description
The Golf Club House, built in 1908 by Sir Edwin Lutyens, is designed in the Neo Georgian style. It is constructed of red brick with lighter red brick dressings and features a hipped pantile roof with hipped dormers. The building is single storey with attics and has sash windows with glazing bars.
The main block is rectangular and has a three-window projecting centre topped with an octagonal glazed cupola. The entrance door is made up of fielded panels and is framed by an architrave surround. There are single dormers on the sides of the projection and two additional dormers flanking these. The walls have shallow panels, and the side quadrant walls, which have tile coping, connect the main block to square corner pavilions. These pavilions feature arched windows on the courtyard sides and roundels on the front elevations.
There are extensions with three windows on either side of the main block, located behind the quadrants and topped with parapets. A pavilion was rebuilt around 1979 behind the right corner pavilion; it is weatherboarded and has a pantiled roof. The elevation facing the golf course includes a central extension from around 1979 that is glazed, with wings on each side featuring two windows and leaded dormer casements.
