Description

The garden wall located about 20 meters south of Haydon Hill is a Grade II listed structure. Originally built for an earlier house on the site in the 18th century, it was refaced around 1840. The wall features a red brick inner face and a stock brick outer face. It is roughly square in shape, with sides measuring between 40 meters and 50 meters in length and a height of 2 meters to 3 meters. The wall includes pilaster buttresses and has a gauged brick flat arch over a door that faces the house. Above this door is a stone plaque featuring a relief of a cockerel and serpents, along with the date 1652, which may have originated from the earlier farmhouse on the site.
