Description
This is a 17th-century barn located about 50 meters southwest of Rowley Farm House in Elstree. The barn features a timber frame that is weatherboarded with a brick plinth and has a tiled roof. It consists of four bays, with an additional fifth bay extension over a waggon way to the left. The entrance is located in the second bay from the left, with doors at the front and a lean-to extension at the rear. Inside, there is a tie beam truss with queen struts, some of which are curved. The purlins and rafters have been renewed, and there are some wind braces present. The barn also has large curved braces connecting the tie beams to the wall posts, as well as small curved braces from the wall posts to the wall plates in the entrance bay.
