Description

Pursley Farm House is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, which was extended and altered around 1840. It features a timber frame that has been extended in brick, with a rendered and whitewashed exterior and tiled roofs. The original layout was L-shaped, with a three-bay front and a one-bay rear wing. The house is two storeys high with an attic. The main facade faces the road and has a central entrance under a timber porch with a hipped, tiled roof. The windows are 19th-century flush frame architraved sashes.

On the right side, there is a later ground floor canted bay window, a first-floor sash window, and an attic casement, all beneath a bargeboarded gable. At the rear right, there is a two-storey 19th-century block with mixed window styles. A tall chimney stack is located at the back of the right 'parlour' bay. The original wing has one-storey rear extensions, with some sashes at the rear being flush frame and others set in reveals.

To the left, there is a separately roofed mid-19th-century block that presents a three-bay front to the yard, featuring a central entrance in a gabled porch, sashes with cambered heads, and twin bargeboarded gables, with a gable at the left end. There are two tall stacks in the valley where this 19th-century block meets the earlier building. Inside, the house has stopped chamfered ground floor binding beams and exposed joists, along with a c.1840 staircase with iron balusters and a fireplace in the parlour.
