Description

The gazebo on the mill stream at Bachelor's Hall is a structure from the late 18th century, with some minor alterations from the 19th century. It features weatherboarded and plastered walls, with brick repairs on a shallow brick bridge that has decorative flintwork in the spandrels. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, accented by blue ridge tiles. The gazebo is square in shape and has a timber lean-to on the east side. The north elevation includes a pediment and a central semi-circular headed doorway, with a plastered fanlight above. Timber pilasters frame the corners, and there is a timber band at the level of the door head. The entrance has a half-glazed door with fielded panels at the base. A 19th-century lean-to has been added to the east side, which includes a doorway and encloses a six over six pane sash window on the east wall, with a similar window on the south elevation.

Inside, there is a small hearth in the south-west corner featuring a hob grate, an overmantle panel, and a mantelshelf. The ceiling is flat and plastered with a coved design, and there is a cornice above dado panelling. Built-in cupboards are also present.

The gazebo is positioned above a brick-lined channel that drains into the mill stream to the south.
