Description
Nos 2 and 4 Roydon Road are two semi-detached houses built in the early 19th century, as indicated on the 1840 Tithe Map, and were refronted in the later 19th century. They are constructed of red brick, which is painted at the rear, and feature brown corrugated tiles that have replaced the original slate roofing. The houses are two stories tall and have a pyramid roof with a large central chimney made of red brick. The elaborate red brick front extends up to form a low parapet that conceals the roof. Each house has one window on each floor, with doors located near the outer corners. The doorways have a depressed three-centred gauged arch, while the windows feature a segmental gauged arch with a toothed raised surround. The windows are sash style and include vertical margin lights. These houses are included for their group value.
