Description
No. 16 High Street is a house that dates from the 18th century or earlier and was remodeled in the early 19th century. It has a timber frame that is plastered and lined to resemble ashlar, with a low stucco plinth and a painted wooden string at floor level. The front range features a low-pitched slate roof. There is a 18th-century red brick, two-storey rear wing to the south. The house has a centralised two-room plan with end chimneys, facing east, and is two storeys high with a symmetrical front that has three windows and a central door. The windows are flush box sash types with moulded surrounds, featuring 4/8 panes on the first floor and 8/8 panes below. The entrance has a recessed six-panel door within a doorcase that has a flat moulded hood. This building is included for its group value.
